Q: Will the Canadian Game also be moving to the Beta version? It doesn't appear on my list while in beta.
A: Games that allow trading with Canadian dollars will no longer be accessible after we switch over to the new Simulator. We recommend joining a USD only game to ensure that you do not lose your game/portfolio when we make the switch in October.
Q: Will I be automatically transferred into the beta game from the legacy game?
A: Yes, as long as it was a USD only game.
Q: Will the legacy simulator be shutdown when you transition to the new one? Will players have to sign up again?
A: All users will be migrated over to the Sim beta. You will not have to sign up again. However, if you had Canadian currency games, you will not need to create a new account - you simply need to join a new game.
Q: What can I do on the new Stock Simulator?
A: You will still be able to trade stocks, options, and ETFs in USD, as well as short stocks, on the NYSE and NASDAQ.
Q: What’s changing on the new Stock Simulator?
A: All the fundamental features on the Simulator are the same (such as portfolio/trading and rankings/games), but now they’re simply in a more user-friendly display. We also added helpful tool tips to help you understand key financial terms to better navigate the Simulator.
Q: Can I still use Sim if I am located in Canada?
A: Yes, you can still use Sim, but you will only have access to trading in USD on US stock exchanges (NYSE & NASDAQ).
Q: What if my CAD or CAD/USD game already started?
A: You will still lose access to your game, even if it has already begun before we switch over to the new Simulator.
Q: Will we have access to our past portfolios and trades from these CAD games?
A: No, these will be removed.
